Good health and methods to enhance it are at the forefront of all our operations. Through a robust offering of medicines, medical devices, operational and health-promoting products, along with extensive inventory management and distribution services for the Icelandic healthcare system, we proudly play a key role in promoting the health and well-being of the nation.

One of Ósar’s investment projects last year was the acquisition of a stake in Greenfit ehf. The company has been a leader in health measurements in Iceland in recent years, and its operations align well with the group’s future vision of promoting the nation’s health.

Icepharma – Welfare
The newly established Welfare Technology Division of Icepharma plays a significant role in the health and healthcare community by offering products and services aimed at enhancing and maintaining the nation’s health. The division will lead the development of health and wellness solutions for Iceland’s healthcare system and its people.

Dental Health Division of Icepharma Launched
The company E. Bridde, specializing in dental products, was acquired in 2023, bringing with it Straumann, a leading brand in dental implants and aligners. The Dental Health Division of Icepharma focuses on marketing high-quality products related to dental solutions.
Arnarland Health Cluster
One of Ósar’s largest projects is the development of a health district at Arnarnesháls in Garðabær, which will also house Ósar’s future headquarters. In addition to the headquarters, the district will consist of spacious high-quality apartments with advanced technology for those aged 50 and older, as well as a centre for companies specializing in healthcare services, development, and innovation in health-promoting activities.

Parlogis plays a crucial role in supporting those facing illnesses. The company undertakes the important task of supplying healthcare institutions with essential medicines and medical devices, ensuring they are delivered safely and responsibly to healthcare professionals, pharmacies, and, in some cases, directly to patients. This role carries significant responsibility, as medicines and medical devices are often sensitive products that require special handling during transport and storage to ensure their quality and efficacy.

Health-Related Events and National Campaigns
Ósar places great emphasis on health promotion and participates in numerous health-related events and other health campaigns nationwide. These include Pink October, Moustache March, sports competitions, collaborations with sports clubs, and sponsorships for a diverse group of athletes.

Employee Health a Priority
Our workforce is our most valuable asset, and we make every effort to care for them. We recognize that numerous factors—physical, social, and mental—affect how employees feel both at work and outside of it. Our goal is to create a safe, positive, and health-focused work environment so that work can contribute to the overall quality of life of our employees.
Ósar’s Health Weeks
Ósar’s Health Weeks took place in September 2023 as part of our efforts to improve the quality of life and well-being of our employees. The goal of Ósar’s Health Weeks was to explore what health means to each individual and to introduce good habits without extremism. It was a six-week educational program where a new and interesting theme was introduced each week, along with education related to that theme. The training was organized by Sif Svavarsdóttir from the Human Resources department, Þuríður Hrund Hjartardóttir from the Health and Sports department, and Kolbrún Pálína Helgadóttir from the Marketing department.
At the end of each week, participants were offered to attend sessions where they could seek support and encouragement from each other as well as from the instructors. The joy that accompanied the project spread throughout the company, leading to significant lifestyle changes for many. Various motivational awards were given throughout the period for achievements in different areas.
Ósar Health Fund
In 2023, a support fund was established with the goal of encouraging employees to engage in health-promoting activities and to strengthen the team spirit within the company. As a result, numerous groups were formed across various departments and divisions of the company, organizing regular exercise and social activities. These included a football club that played weekly, a knitting group that met regularly for knitting sessions, a golf group that organized competitions within the company, and a hiking group that planned longer hikes. Additionally, a fishing group received support for a course, a sea swimming group was granted passes for sea swimming, a yoga group received funding for Nidra Yoga sessions, and an annual visit by Dr. Bæk to check employees’ bikes before summer was funded by the Health Fund.
The Health Fund complemented Ósar’s longstanding tradition of subsidizing fitness activities for employees, which a substantial portion of the staff also utilized last year.
Healthy Diet
At Brasserie Ósar, there is a strong emphasis on providing healthy and nutritious food. Employees have access to a hot meal at lunchtime, and great care is taken to offer a comprehensive salad bar with a wide selection of healthy choices. At Brasserie Ósar, employees also have access to a water station with clean, cold water, as well as vitamins and supplements. Additionally, employees can enjoy a healthy breakfast. Outside the regular opening hours of Brasserie Ósar, employees have the option to grab a healthy snack. In 2023, Café Ósar was opened, where employees can take a break during their busy day, greet colleagues, and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
