Investing in the Future
Ósar and its subsidiaries are a leading force in the Icelandic market for health and wellness, a position built upon our group’s strong emphasis on continuous progress. In 2023, special focus was placed on investing for the future, and several key developments took place.
We acquired the company E. Bridde, which specializes in dental products. With this acquisition, we also brought in Straumann, a world leader in dental implants and clear aligners. A new Dental Health Division was established to handle Straumann and other strong suppliers in the dental field.
We completed the acquisition of Vetis, which offered high-quality pet food from Belcando and operated the online store dyrafodur.is. Pet food of this quality aligns well with our group’s operations in animal health, emphasizing that we also care deeply about the health and well-being of animals.
A new division focusing on welfare technology and business development was founded. Health and welfare technology are becoming increasingly crucial due to the aging population, and we aim to be ready to meet the challenges of a welfare society in the future.
Several organizational changes were implemented, particularly within Ósar, the parent company. Notably, a new Marketing Division was established to integrate and strengthen the group’s marketing activities.
The employees of the group have the rewarding task of ensuring daily access for the nation to essential medicines and medical devices, playing a vital role in the Icelandic healthcare system. The group is also a leader in the sale and marketing of various health-promoting products related to sports, exercise, supplements, and healthy nutrition. Social responsibility is thus intertwined with our purpose and operational goals, reflected in the health-focused priorities and culture throughout our work.
